Team roles and responsibilities

I have this resource printed and displayed in my classroom. Students are allocated teams as part of a seating plan - they are each given a number 1-4. Each number is then allocated a role. Teams move tables each lesson (indicated by a box with their team name on it). Teams are re-organised every half term. Roles and numbers are also changed half termly - as many students may retain the same number but in a different team! Hope that all makes sense. I will probably put together a help sheet to go with this resource at some point. Please let me know how useful you find these.

OHM work (online homework monitoring)

These are best printed 2 per side and double sided - to give A5 size sheets. These are for giving students when they have online (self marked) pieces of homework. Often there is no evidence of these other than a simple percentage. These sheets provide students with an opportunity to evaluate their progress and also for parents to write a comment. I would perhaps use these 2 or 3 times a half term (rather than every piece of homework). These can be adapted for other online homeworks or KS4. As usual any feedback is welcome.

Have put this visual together as part of the Learn to Learn scheme that I am developing at our school. It shows how the 4 main pillars (Independence / Collaboration / Creativity / Communication) support the learning of all subjects and how it is underpinned by a Growth mindset. There are also some levelled criteria available that I have written for each of the 4 pillars. Please let me know how useful you find this.

Before everything else! Does exactly what it says on the tin! For use with students before they start a topic or lesson. As with exit passes they are best printed 4 per A4 page. Have found the students can make use of these very quickly. Please let me have any feedback with respect to how you useful or otherwise you have found these.

PAWs - peer assessment

Peer Assessed Work sheets. Best when printed 4 to an A4 page. These are useful when asking students to peer assess each others work - be it verbal, visual, written or practical. Also allows for students to respond to their feedback. Please let me know how useful these are with your groups. For reference M.R.I. stands for My Response Is - this is where the student replies to their comments
4 pillar exit passes

4 pillar exit passes

These exit passes are linked to the 4 pillars of Independence, Collaboration, Creativity and Communication. They can be used by students to assess their levels against the 4 pillars criteria (see other resources). We use them in the Learn to Learn scheme that we teach in Y7. I also intend to use them in my science lessons. Please let me know if you find these of any use.

BAAs book feedback sheets

Book analysis and assessment sheets. These are used for 'deep marking' of exercise books / files once every half term or so. They work best when printed 4 per A4 page. The red version is to highlight to the student that there are more issues than praise. I am currently improving these so will upload the improved versions once completed. Please let me know how useful you find these.

These are my first attempt at providing levels for the 4 main pillars that I have written into our Learn to Learn scheme. They can be used along with the display document - Pillars of success. Please let me know how useful you find these.

Literacy resource

This is one of those strategies that I came up with in a moment of enlightenment - only to find that the idea had already been used before - primarily in the Primary phase!! Anyway I put these resources together myself and have them displayed. Make constant reference to them whenever students are thinking, talking, writing or reading. Helps them understand that a high quality written response does not 'appear' as if by magic - particularly when in an exam. Let me know how you find these resources.

These are best printed 2 per page and back to back. I have used these as homeworks (but could be used as cover work or lesson activities) to encourage students to be more creative. Have had some fantastic pieces of learning from Y7 through to Y12 students. As per usual feedback is welcome.
First Aid (learner) resources

First Aid (learner) resources

This is an alternative to an enable table. These are resources that I use within my classroom. My First aid cupboard is where I store resources such as text books etc. The first aid badges (which I laminate and have in lanyards) are used with students who complete their work and then support others in the class. The certificates are used to encourage the First aiders to reflect on their learning (and recognise their great efforts). As usual feedback is welcome.

HORSE - HOmework Review and Self Evaluation

These are best printed 4 to a page and back to back. You then get 2 sided A6 size sheets with teacher feedback on one side and student response (MRI=my response is) on the other side. I use these when student's work needs assessing but it would be difficult to write comments directly onto their work, e.g emailed presentations, models, verbal presentations or hard copies that would be spoiled with comments being written on them. If printed correctly then they can be stuck into students books or files and can flip up to reveal student's responses. As usual please give me any feedback, suggested improvements or just simply how you have used these.
BAA 2 - the return!

BAA 2 - the return!

(0)
This is the improved version of the BAA sheets (Book analysis and assessment). These are best printed 4 per page so each resource is then a half page of A4. These can easily be adapted to allow the students themselves to self assess their own work. Generally these are done once per half term - any more than that would be marking madness! As usual any feedback would be welcome along with what use you have been able to make of them.
Blank quiz quiz trade cards

Blank quiz quiz trade cards

These are blank quiz quiz trade cards. They are best printed back to back. Students can be given these to write their own questions with answers - on the reverse they have to be able to justify their question; e.g. choice of topic, level of difficulty etc.

Exit pass - A and E - Assessment and evaluation

Best printed 4 per page of A4. Useful for student self assessment and also provide quick feedback for the teacher. Great for evidence for work scrutinies / lesson observations. I have found having a selection of various exit passes preprinted means I always have the right one at the right time!

GCSE Biology AQA - Quick quiz template

This is a scaffold for providing students with regular no-stakes testing of their Biology glossaries. As such it is best used in conjunction with the GCSE Biology AQA Glossaries. It is best printed A3 size; 2 per page and back to back. It also includes my own marking system codes to allow students to fully analyse their own performance. To reduce the stakes to zero then results should not be collected. This allows students to maximise their long term retention. I have use this type of resource with great effect at KS3, 4 and 5 with small adaptations to suit the relevant glossaries. Excellent method for developing long term retention.

FAIL and SAIL Mindmap scaffold

This is a resource to demonstrate progress. It can be used with any subject material. Students should be given the opportunity to attempt the F.A.I.L. (first attempt in learning) before they are introduced to a topic or concept. Once the learning has taken place they can then complete the S.A.I.L. (second attempt in learning). These can then be assessed and feedback provided. Students can then be encouraged to identify their strengths, weaknesses and next steps.

Best printed 4 per page of A4. Useful for student self assessment and also provide quick feedback for the teacher. Great for evidence for work scrutinies / lesson observations. This is based on the SOLO taxonomy system. It encourages the students to progress their learning.
